Welcome to SciAstro.Net's blog pages! This is the place where members of the SciAstro community can come to express themselves in their own blog. You can have different categories, and they don't even all have to be about astronomy. You can also have static web pages on your blog, if you have something you'd like to post that is timeless in nature. I will be using this blog to keep everyone up to date on the progress and changes to SciAstro.Net, so make sure to check in often.

Been a busy couple of days.  I developed a template for SciAstro.Net and used it to develop a new Home Page.  Nothing huge, but I think its an attractive front door for the site.  I'm going to work up a few more images for the header and have them rotate with each page load.

Then, I took that template and made it into a skin for the Blog section.  This was a real adventure because the entire blog section is done in php, so its a bunch of dink, upload, check, over and over again.  Think I have it, though.  This theme will be available to anyone registering for a blog.  Let me know what you think!

The topic says it all. Susan's computer is up and running. At least for now Think maybe I'll get a nice dinner tonight?

Susan's computer died this evening.  One of the dogs knocked the power cord loose, and when she restarted it, it wouldn't boot -- would not anything, actually.  The lights come on, all the cooling fans run, but the drives don't spin and the monitor doesn't come to life.

I suspect something on the motherboard got zapped.  I'm going to let it sit for awhile and then see what I can do with it tomorow.  In the meantime, she is stuck with her old laptop which doesn't make her very happy.

I got the parts ordered from newegg for Susan's computer --new motherboard, CPU and memory.  That should fix it.  Hopefully they'll arrive Monday.  I don't think I can stand the complaining if it takes any longer!

Today I got Susan's (Portia's) blog set up for her and transferred her old astronomy articles to her blog pages. Now she just has to find the time to edit them.

I just finished getting it set so the header background image changes on both the web site front page, and those blogs that use the sciastro skin.  The image rotation is triggered by a page reload or a 60 second timer.  If you refresh this page, for example, the image should change or just wait a minute and it will change by itself.  There are currently 5 images in the rotation.
