SciAstro.Net

There are two types of pictures you can add to your blog -- those stored on another web site, and those stored on SciAstro.Net. We'll look at the first option first.

To insert a picture that is already stored on a web server, just click on the "img" button in the tool bar above the text composition box. A window will pop open asking for the picture's URL. Simply edit the complete url address of the picture and click "OK." Two more windows will pop up, one asking for ALTernate text (the text that would be displayed if the image couldn't be found or if the viewer had load images turned off in their browser) and the other asking for the Title (the text that is displayed when you run your mouse over the picture). Both of these are optional. Once you click the last OK, you will be returned to the text composition box and the html code for inserting the picture will have been automatically inserted.

You can also upload a picture from your computer to the SciAstro.Net blog section and then insert that picture into your blog. Please note that only pictures with file sizes less than 100kb can be uploaded to our server. To do this follow these steps:

1.) Click of the "Files" button located below and on the right side of the text composition window. This will open a new File Management window that shows your upload folder and the files that you have already placed there.

2.) To upload a new picture, click on the "Browse" button on the center bottom of the window. Browse to where the file is located on your computer, select it, and press the open button. Back in the file management window, click on the "Quick Upload" button just right of the browse button.

3.) You should now see your file listed in the center portion of the window. Just to the left of the file name, there is a small blank box. Click that box with your mouse and a check mark will appear. Now all you have to do is click the "Insert IMG/link into post" button (located right below the file list) and that will return you to your post text composition window and insert the proper html code.

4.) Once you have a picture uploaded to SciAstro.Net, you do not need to ever upload it again. If you want to use the same picture in another post, just click the "Files..." button and skip directly to step 3 above.
