Observing Night.
I'm slouched in my chair,
eyes turned toward the sky.
The first star appears,
total darkness is nigh.
A chill in the air,
and no clouds do I see.
Sagitarrius to the south
serving up cosmic tea.
Light from the Milky Way
casts shadows on land.
Nebulousity stretching,
in a huge cosmic band.
Through the eyepiece I search
for the planets we know.
Jupiter and Saturn
moons-a-plenty in tow.
The gas bands of Jupiter
and Saturn's icy rings.
Double star Alberio:
Yellow and blue stellar bling.
The moon is a sliver
of white icy light.
It's nearing the end
of it's orbit tonight.
My trip thru the universe
ends with a jolt.
As a meteor squeals
like a green lighting bolt.
So fast does it fly
as it lights up the night.
We eagerly wait,
yet no more in flight.
The stars have the answers
to the questions we ask.
Understanding the cosmos
Is no easy task.
So I watch and observe
the heavens above.
It truly reminds me,
Of all that I love.
My universe is you.
The universe expands
Too quickly to comprehend.
And too slowly to notice you're not standing still.
Time has never been understood or on my side.
Then our worlds collided with the impact of the greatest of supernovae.
From that moment I am motionless and suspended in your space.
Walking on pillows on cushions on air weightless in your wake.
Gravity is meaningless now.
My first astro blog .........
NERD ALERT!
Hello, fellow #sciastro members!
I'd like to take a moment to thank Portia, AstroC, BobAZ, Jerry_TN and Alan for welcoming me back into the most wonderful channel on IRC -- #sciastro -- and for making time to produce another fantastic website!
And to TheFarce: you know I love you more than my luggage.
It's been great reconnecting with all of you, and I hope to be a part of this wonderful astronomical family for many years to come!
Much love and fancy astro-swag,
Karma
